Overview
This program is interdisciplinary in approach with approximately equal emphasis given to occupational health, management, ergonomics and safety engineering. It is designed to accept graduates from any discipline.

Competencies
Students are expected to acquire the competencies and knowledge outlined for the Graduate Diploma in Safety Science at a level appropriate for their role as safety and health professionals or managers In addition to the competencies above, students who complete the Masters program will also be able to design, undertake and report on an empirical project relating to safety, health, or the environment.

SESC9541	Assessment of the workplace environment	6 UoC
SESC9101, SESC9201, SESC9301 all require a fundamental knowledge course or equivalent knowledge as assumed knowledge. Students must also undertake 12 UOC from among the project courses listed below:

Students in 6 UOC project courses must choose two courses from SESC8071, SESC8806, SESC8906 or SESC9906. Students in SESC9912 must undertake an investigative project of 12 UOC value. Projects may be based on studies carried out at a students place of work, or in the laboratories of the School, or at any other place by arrangement with the Head of the School. A range of instrumentation is available in the School, and liaison can be arranged with industry if students do not have a suitable project at their place of work.

Elective Courses
Elective courses may be taken from courses offered by the School of Safety Science or from other Schools with the approval of the course and program authority.
