The Master of Safety Science is a graduate program of two years full time (or equivalent) study for students wanting a broad based understanding of safety engineering, occupational health, environmental science, risk management and ergonomics to become safety, health and environmental professionals. The program requires 96 UOC and is normally completed in two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) study and is available in on campus or off campus learning mode.CompetenciesStudents are expected to acquire the competencies and knowledge outlined for the Graduate Certificate in Safety Science at a level appropriate for their role as safety and health professionals or managers. In addition they should be able to:
- manage a program for the systematic identification of risks to safety, health and the environment;
- assess the adverse effects of physical, chemical and biological hazards in the workplace;
- with the aid of appropriate experts, to institute appropriate control of workplace hazards;
- carry out a safety and health or environmental audit.
