Leanne's undergraduate study was Sport Science at the University of Sydney. Leanne's first position out of university was an exercise therapist in a nursing home. She started work with the School of Safety Science as a research assistant in 2000, measuring the effects of botulinum toxin injection on upper limb range of motion in children with cerebral palsy, and working on various other projects. After a few years she commenced postgraduate research in biomechanics at UNSW. Leanne is now employed (
see research page) as the Clinical Biomechanist for the NSW Paediatric Clinical Motion Analysis Service, providing gait/motion analysis to children in NSW with movement disorders.
Leanne is researching 3-D motion analysis of upper limb movement in children (see research page). This work will form a basis for comparison to special populations. Her future aspirations include expanding this research to study children with cerebral palsy, and creating a protocol for measuring upper limb movement to assist in the prescription of surgical and other interventions to help people with movement disorders.
